Today’s class did not begin as usual. Many students were wound up I was entered the room. Quickly, I found out that what Matt believed was a colorful highlighter was actually something else. Nick was freaked out because it was next to his desk after Matt launched it across the room upon finding out what it really was. I saved the day by getting a tissue and throwing the item away. Mrs. Gill, talking to a sophomore student, was unaware of what was going on.
We then moved on to the usual, saying our prayers and working on our expanded journal essay, while also listening to Little Wonders by Rob Thomas. Mrs. Gill went on to say that this essay should be perfected by Friday, but done by tomorrow so that editing will be our only task. After our journal Matt read his scribe notes from Monday. We then talked about the Scarlet Letter test, and if it was easy or not. Mrs. Gill spoke about how important it is to use your text as a resource and also to pay attention to a time limit.
Soon class took a turn into writing about our American author we chose from the summer. We wrote a couple of paragraphs about who the author is and why we picked them, then how we feel about Wikipedia. We only had five minutes so it didn’t have to be anything spectacular. We are open to switching authors, but if we choose someone else it needs to be an American author with some sort of influence. Finally Mrs. Gill gave a brief description of each author on her list, informing us of little important details.
