Annie's Halloween Scribe notes

It's Halloween today! And let’s face it; everybody wishes they were sitting at home planning events for tonight instead of being in an ACC English class, let alone being the scribe for today. But today’s class was only 43 minutes due to an assembly earlier, which made classes just that much easier to get through.

Since it is Halloween everybody was dressed up in their costumes. Kristen Stazzone wore big earrings to go with her Pocahontas and tried to see if she could hit herself in the face with them… I question her sanity.  After seeing her try to achieve that goal we began class with a prayer. Afterwards Michelle limped up to the front of class to read her scribe notes. Kristen was relieved she wasn’t going to have to read hers…until she raised her hand and asked if Mrs. Gill had gotten her email. Kristen got up and read her scribe notes and then we proceeded with a prompt which was entitled “Halloween Traditions.” The prompt was pretty self-explanatory.  We wrote in our journal to the song Monster Mash and The Adams Family theme song. As we were writing our memories, Kristen began singing “He did the Mash! He did the monster mash,” which caused Matt to start laughing. The stories were read by Matt, Michael Klein, Kara, Drew, and Nick. Matt read about when his costume was mistakenly taken for the KKK. Michael Klein wrote about how he enjoys scaring people and playing pranks on them during Halloween, especially red heads named Kelly. We heard Kara tell us that her favorite trick or treating house was their dentist because they would get a toothbrush and candy. Drew talked about how he would scare away little children and Nick told a story about phantasmagoric mushrooms and the Jeffery apocalypse, which he let us know was entirely from his imagination. Next in class we finished the vocabulary words that we didn’t finish from Friday. As we were going over this Michael Klein and Matt thought it would be necessary to see what shapes they could make from their tongues and Kristen couldn’t keep up with the notes even when she asks Mrs. Gill to slow down.

Following this Mrs. Gill asks the class how we were doing with The Scarlet Letter, and then we went into a little detail about who the husband of Hester Prynne might be. Our homework is to finish chapters 6-8 for Thursday and have a safe Halloween night.
