Emily Thorn's scribe notes

The Notes of the Scribe

By Emily T. of Period 4

On October third,

That fateful day,

Class started a little late

And the Hail Mary we did pray.

Dear Mrs. Fant,

Our school librarian,

Showed us some books

That she was carryin’

The first book was about a girl

And her hoarder of a mother

The girl had duties she shouldn’t have

And it said Dirty Little Secrets on the cover

My Forbidden Face is about a teenage girl

And her life once the Taliban took over

Women were treated very unfairly

And their faces they had to cover.

If you like science fiction

And stories that are quick

Then I say that Life on Mars

Is a book that you should pick.

There were two sisters

Who loved to be in water

Then a mystery happened to them

In the book The Properties of Water.

A teenage girl committed suicide

In the book Thirteen Reasons Why

On thirteen cassette tapes she left her reasons

And mailed them to those who made her want to die.

Shoeless Joe is about just that man

And the scandal of the White Sox.

If you liked the movie Field of Dreams

You’ll probably think this book rocks.

In Hidden, two five year old girls met

When one of their cars was stolen.

Eleven years later they met again

At a summer camp where they were both going.

Every day a girl wakes up

And loses her memory of the previous day.

In this book that is called Forgotten,

She has only her daily notes to guide her way.

In the book I’ll Be There

Two brothers struggle together

Until they decide they’ve had enough

Of being raised by their abusive father.

In a new book entitled Delirium

Love is considered a serious epidemic.

At age eighteen this emotion is removed

But one teenager decides she’d rather keep it.

A Jewish boy became successful at boxing

As his German looks gave him a cover.

Until, in The Berlin Boxing Club

His religious secret was discovered.

Four books make up this series

Called Incredibly Disgusting Food.

We can read these to see how what we eat

Affects our health and mood.

Mrs. Fant left us to do our things

And we all started to talk and speak

Max let out a rather odd noise

When Hannah touched his cheek.

Afterwards Mark and Abby walked inside

To act out the deleted Crucible scene.

Abby played an unhinged Abigail

And Mark pushed her to the ground; how mean!

We had nothing else to do then

So we all had some free time to pass.

Do not forget that the Act 2 reaction paper

Is due tomorrow at the beginning of class.
