I really couldn’t relate to any of the short stories that we had this week. Most of them had topics or ideas that really didn’t interest me so it’s kind of hard for me to relate to any of them if I didn’t enjoy them. Honestly, I can’t find any meaning that is important to my life because most of the stories were boring. Some of them were good but they weren’t like I can relate to them if they have no significance. It’s like how I am supposed to relate to a story where a woman kills her lover and never let’s go of the body. That’s creepy and has nothing to do with my life. So that’s really why I can’t find a reason to like these stories.
I could relate to "A Pair of Silk Stockings" because I can have those days where I just want to escape my life and live a little. Sometimes I just want to do things for me and not worry about taking care of other people. I also completely understand how Mrs. Sommers didn't want to go back to her normal life after a fun day. After a weekend, for example, it is hard to imagine going back to school after having time off. Other than this story, I really can't relate to any other story. I have never been faced with a situation from one of the other stories, and I hope I never will. - Emily Melz
