We have now read 14 chapters. Is the book better, worse, or exactly what you thought it would be? Explain.

I think the book is a bit better than I thought it would be. I didn't expect it to be horrible, but I'm not always a fan of reading books for school. I get little confused with some of the details occasionally, but for hte most part I can understand the story and I actually get a bit of enjoyment out of it. I can't say I lvoe it, but I defeintely don't hate the book.

After 14 chapters, the novel, for the most part, is better than I expected it to be. Many of the books we read in class have very difficult text, which is a great deterrent to me. Huck Finn is a book that is generally easy to understand, the only issue I have had with it so far is the understanding of Jim’s speech. It takes me a while to read and fully comprehend what Jim is saying. Besides that, I have so far enjoyed the plot and the characterization of Huck and Jim. I am curious to see if Tom Sawyer comes into play much in this novel, as he was an intricate part in the “prequel” to the Huck Finn.

Anne Donahue--
I think the book is better than I originally thought it would be, taking in the timeline of the book and when it was written. The words are easy to understand and the author has written so well with just enough descriptive words to get the point across without drilling it in to someone's head. The action is good and interesting and the lulls in action are short and lead to other actions.

Being fourteen chapters in, I’m actually really surprised at how much I like the book. When I first found out the class was reading the novel I moaned and groaned and was overall not looking forward to reading the book. After reading and understand Mark Twain’s novel I really like it because I like the storyline and plot that he uses. The hardest part of the book is what I think is Jims dialect. He talks in a southern accent which can make it hard to figure out the words he is saying. I can’t wait to read more of the book and see what happens to Huck Finn.

The book has a lot more adventure in it then I thought it would have. Its actually better then what I originally thought it would be. The book moves along fairly quickly and keeps the readers interested and hooked. After getting used to Mark Twain's writings and his style I have found I can move fairly quickly through the book and am enjoying it.

I was expecting the book to be more like The Adventures of Tom Sawyer and have more action and people going on hunts for treasure, but it is more of just Huck and Jim floating down the river and trying too not get caught by people looking for them. Before we started reading someone told me it was a boring book, but I like it because we see a lot of creativity in it by Huck like when he fools the people that he was murdered. Overall, the book is an alright book.- Tony Scalise Jr

Carlye Chaney- I was not expecting the book to be very good, but I was wrong. I really like this book and I find myself wanting to read it in my spare time. It has had some very funny moments- like Huck calls a dauphin a dolphin- while not being distracting. It also moves fairly quickly, so I have not gotten bored with it at all. This book is a lot better than I thought it was going to be when it was first assigned.

When I heard that we were going to read Huck Finn I wasn't very excited. I had very low expectations for the book but suprisingly I like it. I like that the book is full of action and the text is filled with meaning. At first it was hard for me to read some of the dialogue, but I no longer struggle with it. The book really captures the readers attention and makes you want to keep reading.

I think that this book is better than what I expected it to be. I thought that this book would be boring and hard to read, but i find it intersting and pretty easy to read other than times that jim is talking. I find all the adventures that they get into interesting, and so far I am enjoying this book.
