Why do you think debate is so popular in society today? Is
it just because people like to argue, or is there something more civilized to it? Do
you think debate will continue to be popular in the future, or will it
disappear?
Abby Primo- I think that debate is so popular today because it helps get to the root of the problem. People argue, things change, and then the debate is over. I think that debate is also popular today because it is a better solution than war (obviously). I do not think that it is arguing, but it is a way for both sides to get their points across. I think that debate will always be popular, because everyone has been debating for so many years. Debating will always be around because it just seems to be human nature.
I think that debating is really popular in society. It is not something that people just argue. People want to prove a point when they are debating. They find that they need to get a message across for other people to hear. It isn’t something that is just fun to do. People debate because they care about the issues that they are debating on and they think that others should care about it too. They find that everyone should think it’s important like they do. I still think that debating will continue on in the future. It will continue on in presidential elections and probably still I school. People will still want to get their message across, so what better way to do that than debate. - Andrew Manott
There are many reasons as to why debate is popular in society today. I do think a possible reason could be that people enjoy arguing when they think they are right but that’s not the only reason. I feel as though people like it because it is an easier way then war to settle things out. Yes, things will get heated in some arguments but debating still makes fighting easier. When we debate we use our words and not our fists or weapons. I think and hope that debate will still be around in the future because people realize that it is a better way to talk things out. I'm not sure why debating is so popular today. I think some people do just like to argue and disagree with people for whatever reason. I think people feel more powerful when they try to thrust their views upon other people and try to make them understand what they understand. The civilized and formalized versions of debates are something that interest me I think it's good for people to exercise argumentative subjects. In the court room it's always like a huge debate, lawyers against defendents and such. People like to argue jsut because.
