by Timothy Smith

Prayer
Journal- One Hat. (Thanks, Abby, for clarifying that it is not an actual hat but an aspect of personality)
Song- 10 Years – Fix Me
(During our journal Mrs. Gill learned how to take attendance without the class seeing it. Good Job!)
Kayla- wrote about her hat of caretaking
Katy- wrote about the stereotypical teenager
Frankie- wrote about his being tall and the disadvantages and advantages
Anne- wrote about her volunteer work at a barn
Mrs. Gill asked Marc to read his scribe notes that were from his “distracted mind”
Mrs. Gill had technical problems that were soon fixed
Mrs. Gill then stated that we should stop recording all of her mistakes
A FISH DIED!!!
We talked about Frankie’s unchanging room
We turned in our papers via turnitin.com
While showing us how to reset our password on turnitin.com, Mrs. Gill reset her own password
Abby ran out of the room to go to the bathroom
Mrs. Gill gave us another paper… that we will start next week
Mrs. Gill told us about the connection between her daughter and the Harry Potter series
Mrs. Gill told us about the Literacy Memoir we are going to write; the directions are on Edline
Homework- do the 14 questions on Edline
Abby called Mrs. Gill she is the best teacher for letting her go to the bathroom

End of Class

8-25-11 Period 2 Scribe Notes

by Nick Scarfino
Because I have ADHD, my mind wanders a lot, so I will be writing everything that is on my mind, as well as every major thing that happens during class.
           -          Jeffery reads his blotchy, one-paragraph scribe notes.

-          We also read Marc’s scribe notes for the other class.

-          I dropped all of my papers during the writing prompt, so I’m a little thrown off, but I read the board and find out that our writing prompt is to choose one aspect of our personality and expand on it. The title of the prompt is “One Hat”.

-          MY SONG (“Fix Me” by 10 Years) plays during the writing prompt. Matt tries to bring down my scribe-writing morale by saying that this song is “overplayed”.

-          Zack’s middle name is Wayne.

-          Mrs. Gill doesn’t know how to take attendance.

Writing Prompt Responses

-          Zack says that his personal “hat” is a serial killer. It is super awkward and no one knows what to say. I can’t really tell if Zack is serious and this is probably the most disturbing moment of my life. He says something about “keeping his blood from splattering on the wall,” and I am just very confused. I get even more confused because Mrs. Gill actually says it was good. She then asks Zack what his method of murder is… I’m just too weirded out to think anymore.

-          Now the ginger’s turn. I totally predicted that Kelly would write about being a ginger. It was quite humorous.

-          Annie went next, and I think she said something about being dependable. I was kind of too scared of Zack to pay much attention.

We turned in our Summer Reading Essay

-          Well I actually, couldn’t get it figured out for a good ten minutes because Turnitin was acting up. In the middle of my struggle, Zack turned around to help me out without me asking for assistance and it kind of creeped me out.

-          Mrs. Gill states that she loves a good title, which kind of depresses me because the title on my essay sucks.

Mrs. Gill assigns us a new essay called the “Literacy Memoir”. She claims that she should be able to “sing” all of our papers.

Mrs. Gill’s clock is off by an hour. I want to tell her, but she’s kind of ignoring my hand.

HOMEWORK: Prewriting questions 1-14 for the literacy memoir. Questions are on Edline.

Jeff Seib's Period 2 Scribin'

This class was the first class of the day. Nothing was out of the ordinary; we said prayer before class, and people came up to me because they wanted someone to tie their tie. Because it was a late start and an all school mass, class only ended up being twenty- eight minutes long; so there is not much to write about. We did get “New members to the class”, four or five goldfish. The journal was “In my room: Remember a bedroom from your childhood. Focus on description”. At the end of the journal, no one raised their hand at first to share what they wrote. Mrs. Gill first picked on Jennifer to read her journal. She wrote about her room in detail, for example, the evolution of wall paper was talked about and then something about butterflies. Megan was next. She wrote about her green walls, cars, and animals. Then Michael was chosen and he talked about how he shared his room and had a bunk bed. After the journal, the class was reminded of the essay due tomorrow. Then the most recent scribes were read, and Mrs. Gill reminded us she still wants to be employed so I’m going to be writing bad stuff on my scribe. Next, we were handed our summer reading questions back, and most people I saw looked pretty satisfied with their grade. Lastly, we were told how good we looked in our dress uniform, and pretty soon after that the announcement came on that classes were going to be called to the gym so we had to pack up. The end.

Scribe notes from the distracted mind of Marc St. Amour

Good thing today’s classes are short and class got in late from Mass
Tim generously lent his charger to Mrs. Gill
Mrs. Gill explain headers and other stuff we should have already known for writing papers
WE HAVE LIFE IN THE FISH BOWL!!!
Mrs. Gill told us her maiden name
It somehow smells strongly of Cheerios
I have been told to flatter Mrs. Gill beyond my jurisdiction
It is safe to say we are still in awe of Emily’s previous scribe submission
Mrs. Gill may have abandoned Hannah
According to Max, we don’t care about Abby’s house
We listened to a lovely song by the name of “Somewhere Only We Know” as we journaled about our bedroom as small children
  • Katy’s diva breakthrough
  • Max's creepy mirrors
  • Frankie’s unchanging room, almost reflects his personality in my opinion (judging since kindergarten)
The class ended abruptly an…….

Michelle Silva's period 2 Scribe Notes

Started class with a prayer
And then we read over yesterday’s Scribe notes. We compared how wonderful Emily Thorn’s was and how, well……..awesome Kristen’s was
Mrs. Gill commented on Kristen’s wonderful scribing while we all conversed about how today’s scribing would be much better.
We then proceeded to get out our Journals and write to Eiffel 65 – Blue (da ba dee). Mrs. Gill then commented on how cute she thought the little blue spacemen were in the music video.

- after we all check out a bit of the freaky music video, Michael Klein read his journal about how he was a chest hair on the blue monster's body
- Katrina then read her journal about a man employed that had to have, as Mrs. Gill referred to them, blue balls, on his face. We all had a good laugh
- Kara wrote about how she had woken up with this blue fungus on her face
After Journals we reviewed more of our Last High School Essay
- we were spilt into groups of 5 to review our thesis’s - we were instructed to “feel it out…” again a reference by our wonderful teacher Mrs. Gill
- we also were told to cross-pollinate with the other guy group …another reference by Mrs. Gill.

Kayla's Period 4 Scribe Notes

Thesis or Theses?

As we all know there is a big difference between what is planned for class and what actually is achieved in class. Today, August 23, 2011, we were able to advance a tad further than what was originally expected. Our original objective is located below:

IMPROVE THESIS AND PERFECT CITATION

1)    PRAYER & ATTENDENCE

2)    SCRIBE NOTES

3)    JOURNAL: BLUE

4)    GROUP WORK: THESIS WORKSHOP IN TRIADS

Now allow me to share with you what really occurred in ACC English 3 period 4. The class started just like any other; we began with prayer where we recited the Hail Mary and the Glory Be. Then we jumped right into reviewing the scribe entry, and after one run through it was no contest nor surprise that Emily was awarded the “Good Point” trophy. After being amazed by Emily’s amazing work, we began our journal with the label of “BLUE” accompanied by the song “BLUE” which I know took us all down memory lane (especially Maddie who could barely stay in her seat). With the journal was a picture of a man with blue lumps all over his face. Our job was to explain how those lumps came about. We had great stories submitted by Lauren, Marc, Emily, Chris, and of course Joe. Those stories included everything from our dear friend Santa Claus becoming an alien to the Green Lantern defeating the Blue.

Finished with our normal daily agenda the class moved on to bigger and better things--that’s right--group work in TRIADS!!! Once groups were formed students edited their fellow peers in an effort to make their theses great for “The Last High School Paper”. One group in particular stood out above all with their strong discussion (it was really just yelling). This group included Tyler, Hannah, and Max. Although it wasn’t clear what their argument was over Max was sure to make his point in a table pounding manner.

RINGGGGG…… RINGGGGG….

As Mrs. Gill raced to the ringing phone she admitted how she had forgotten to take attendance (wasn’t that on the original agenda?).

“I Will Feed You!!!!”

Mrs. Gill is in need of members to fill her newspaper staff. You receive half a practical arts credit and the opportunity to inspire and impact the lives of your fellow classmates. The Newspaper staff is in need of anyone who is interested, so come one come all, and remember she will feed you. First meeting is 7:30 a.m. this Thursday.

Homework: Tonight’s home work for the students will be to complete the rough draft of “Your Last High School Paper”.

P.S. When I was writing this “Blue” played on my ipod, how ironic.
